The heart behind this program is to inspire high quality writing, reading comprehension and extensive word knowledge among middle school and high school students. While building these high quality standards, students will author writings to have published for our culmination book project entitled, "A New Morning, A New Place."
This summer students will learn 100 words, but gain the knowledge of 5000 words through our Word Within a Word study! Each week students will be given a list of 20-30 Latin and Greek root words to study, comprehend and digest before moving on to the next list of new words. This study will be supported by online comprehension tools and conclude with students submitting HANDWRITTEN sentences to demonstrate their understanding of each week's word list.

Now that we have began the process of writing A New Morning, A New Place, students are encouraged to record their writings manuscript on a formatted manuscript page. This will allow for easy assembly of all manuscripts for the final book compilation. It will also make it easier for students to revise and add to their work.
When submitting your manuscript, spelling, grammar and punctuation is VERY important. So, be sure to check behind yourself before submitting your work.
